Caryl's loft space is beautifully outfitted, in an elegant but perfectly comfortable way. My husband, and 2 daughters and myself stayed in the upstairs loft space and had plenty of room with 2 separate rooms, a luxurious bathroom, and couches and lamps galore. Breakfast is provided each morning and the home itself is a classic and beautifully maintained. We stayed 3 nights and each time we returned from exploring the amazing but sweltering city, it was like returning to a welcoming resort. The location was perfect for visiting U Chicago and Hyde Park is a fun neighborhood. Thank you, Caryl!

"Everything about my experience in Caryl and Philippe’s home exceeded expectation. They are both engaging hosts and true enthusiasts of their unique neighborhood. The room was more spacious and congenial than photos have capacity to capture, and the location could not be better. Caryl in particular makes herself available to answer questions, and her communication is immediate. Many small details, too numerous to mention, reflect the thoughtfulness and generosity she extends to her guests. She takes an interest in her guests as persons, while maintaining every respect for their privacy. A wonderful stay I would be glad to repeat."

"Our third stay at Chez Philippe and Caryl probably says enough in-and-of itself. This has become our home away from home when visiting our UChicago student. In fact, after I write this review, I am going to check availability for an upcoming visit. The revelation this time around is this residence has fine accommodations whether you are a single traveler or a family of 4 or 5. We moved up to the orange room, which is perfect for couples with a king-size bed, dressing area with two closets, TV and spacious bathroom with a shower and Jacuzzi. That plus the kitchen and an ironing board to do some work for our kid -- you know these college kids -- was all we could ask for. Suffice to say, we have paid a lot more for a lot less in Chicago. Tip: If you are driving in and concerned about parking, we have found plenty of parking around Caryl and Philippe's nights and weekends. Daytimes on school days are slightly dicier, but still doable. If you need driveway space, they will work with you, but we have yet to find street parking a significant problem."

Five stars! This is a peaceful, clean, well-appointed and quiet room (with bath) in a nicely renovated house on a beautiful block in Hyde Park. Super convenient, especially for those visiting the University of Chicago, and close to public transit. Guests have access to a large kitchen and back porch. Self-serve breakfast is generous and includes many options. Caryl is a friendly host. During my stay, she was often at the house and was always quick to reply to questions by text. The set-up of the house (multiple AirBnB rooms available) would be especially great for families or groups traveling together. Overall, a terrific place - I hope it’s available next time I travel to Chicago!
